Jamie Magnusson, Full Instructor, began studying with Shifu Donna Oliver and Shifu Andy James in 2014, having arrived at the Tai Chi & Meditation Centre with serious hip arthritis after years of hard, “external” martial arts practice. Regular Tai Chi/Qigong practice and Vipassana meditation have greatly increased her physical mobility and improved her general well being.

Jamie is a professor of Adult Education and Community Development at the University of Toronto, where she teaches a graduate level course on Qigong and community wellness. She teaches self-defense as anti-violence practice for street-involved women and for lgbt communities.
